The gospel of Mary Magdalene says that we are not sinful; we are not to feel ashamed or unworthy for being human.  Rather, our purpose is to be fully human, to be a "true human being"---that is, a person who realizes that we are a messy, limited ego, and also, we are a limitless soul. Both.

And all we need to do, to realize our full humanity, or to unite the self and the soul, is to turn inward (again and again); to meditate, like Mary Magdalene, in the way her gospel directs us. This allows us to reach a clarity or singularity of heart that lets us see past the ego of our own little lives to what's more real, and lasting, and infinite, and already here, within.

Through lecture, discussion, and practice of the soul-voice meditation together, we will uncover a more complete understanding about Mary Magdalene as a figure of profound spiritual authority in the earliest form of Christianity. And we will discover why Mary’s gospel was excluded from the current form of the New Testament, and explore the secret teachings Christ gave to her.

We will return home with a deeper understanding of why Mary Magdalene's teachings are so relevant at this point in time and hopefully with a direct, personal experience of the love Mary's gospel reveals, a love that changes everything, a love that comes from within. 

What We’ll Reveal

The teachings in Mary’s gospel are powerfully made for these times. We’ll reveal together the secret teachings Christ gave to her, and we’ll practice a form of meditation that her gospel refers to as an inner spiritual vision, that allows us to know what’s real, and true for us.

We’ll reveal the history of the earliest form of Christianity, contextualizing the gospel of Mary Magdalene within the 1st century, and we’ll piece back together the bits the bible left out in excluding other sacred texts like the gospel of Philip, and the gospel of Thomas. 

And all throughout the weekend we’ll be practicing the soul-voice meditation so that we’ll not just acquire academic knowledge about Mary Magdalene but also, we’ll begin to integrate her teachings personally, from a direct experience with the form of love Mary knew by heart.

This is an opportunity to reassess and realign, to make certain that the choices we make from here on out are coming straight from the heart, from the soul of who we are.

This retreat will be led by author and feminist theologian Meggan Watterson, spiritual teacher Traci S. Jackson, and musician Jake Wesley Rogers.
